International Seminar of Young Tibetologists

Call for papers closes in 13 days

Deadline: 1 Nov 2026. Check the organizer's site for exact time zone and requirements.

The International Seminar of Young Tibetologists (ISYT) is the gathering for scholars of Tibet in the early stages of their careers. It grew out of the first Seminar of Young Tibetologists held in Zürich in 1977, the meeting now counted as the first seminar of the International Association for Tibetan Studies, and was revived as a separate seminar in 2007, first meeting at SOAS in London. The seminar keeps the sessions smaller and the presentations longer than the big Tibetan Studies congresses.

The 8th seminar takes place at Korea University in Seoul, 19–23 July 2027.
