About Dharma Jobs
Dharma Jobs brings Buddhist Studies posts and roles in Buddhist communities together in one place, so you don’t have to search dozens of websites, mailing lists and newsletters to find them.
Why it exists
Openings in this field are scattered. A lectureship might appear on a university site, a PhD position on a mailing list, a cook’s role at a retreat centre in its newsletter, and a volunteer stay at a monastery only on its own website. Many good opportunities are missed simply because the right person never sees them. Dharma Jobs gathers them, along with the events and guides that help people find their way into the field.
What we list
- Academic posts in Buddhist Studies, Tibetan and Himalayan Studies and related fields, from lectureships to postdocs
- Funded PhD positions, fellowships and scholarships
- Paid roles at dharma centres, temples, monasteries, retreat centres and Buddhist organisations
- Volunteer, work-practice and residential opportunities
- Conferences, calls for papers, summer schools and public lectures
We also publish free guides on where to study, how to fund a PhD and how to work or volunteer in Buddhist communities.
How listings are found
Every day we check the public pages of universities, research institutes, job portals and Buddhist organisations for new openings and events, with help from AI tools that write a short summary of each one in our own words. Organisations also send us listings directly. Each listing links to the original posting, and you always apply or register with the organisation itself. We only read sites that allow it, and we check what goes up on the site.
For organisations
Listing an opening, event or call for papers is free. Use the Post a listing form or email hello@dharmajobs.org. If we’ve listed something of yours with a mistake, or you would prefer we didn’t list it, just tell us and we’ll fix it.
Who runs it
Dharma Jobs is run by Mladen Gorchev. Questions, ideas and corrections are always welcome at hello@dharmajobs.org, or follow us on LinkedIn.
